ŚĀ 12.6
Neither tiger, nor wolf, nor leopard, nor any wild beast harms him; / he comes to no fear from an enraged elephant—he who wears the Irā-amulet of bilva wood. ||26
Neither snake nor adder harms him, nor scorpion, nor the cross-striped snake; / the black serpent does not coil upon him—he who wears the Irā-amulet of bilva wood. ||27
Varuṇa does not harm him when careless, nor sea monster, nor crocodile, nor dolphin; / from near and far it creates well-being for him—he who wears the Irā-amulet of bilva wood. ||28
Subject to death is his hater, they say, / like a flower cut off together with its stem; / as a flood [sweeps away] curses, let it drive away rivals— / he who wears the Irā-amulet of bilva wood. ||29
This amulet, a protective amulet, / made of jambu wood, is bound on for life; / with this Indra slew Vṛtra, and with the wise seer. ||30
