Now, the consecrated kṣatriya belongs to Agni by deity,
to the gāyatrī by metre, to the threefold by chant, and to the brāhmaṇa by kinship.
When moving out [from the hall], he enters into the state of a kṣatriya.
When he is moving out, Agni takes away his splendour, the gāyatrī his virility,
the threefold chant his life-span, and the brāhmaṇas his brahman, fame, and glory,
saying: 'This one has become different from us, he has become nobility,
he has turned to nobility.'
Having offered an oblation after the samiṣṭayajus offerings of the anūbandhyā [cow], he should attend upon the āhavanīya fire:
'I do not depart from Agni as deity, nor from the gāyatrī as metre,
nor from the threefold chant, nor from kinship with brahman.
Let not Agni take away my splendour, nor the gāyatrī my virility, nor the threefold chant my life-span,
nor the brāhmaṇas my brahman, fame, and glory.
Together with splendour, virility, life-span, brahman, fame, and glory, I approach Indra as deity,
the triṣṭubh metre, the fifteenfold chant, King Soma;
I resort to nobility, I become a kṣatriya.
Gods who are ancestors, ancestors who are gods, being who I am, I sacrifice!
Mine is this sacrifice, mine the pious deed, mine the toil, mine the oblation!
Of mine here, this Agni is the overseer, this Vāyu the overhearer, yonder Āditya the announcer;
here am I, who I indeed am.'
Agni does not take away his splendour, nor the gāyatrī his virility, nor the threefold chant his life-span,
nor the brāhmaṇas his brahman, fame, and glory,
for him who, being a kṣatriya, offers this oblation and attends upon the āhavanīya fire when moving out.
