'These drops have flowed' [RV 9.62.1a]: he should make this the opening verse for many sacrificing together.
By saying 'These', he addresses them for seniority; through the meter, having [due] form, he makes them share equally.
An equal blessing of the sacrifice comes to them.
When Prajāpati created creatures, he created them by this very opening verse.
With 'These', he created the gods; with 'have flowed', humans; with 'drops', the fathers; with 'across the filter', the soma cups; with 'swift', the stomas; with 'all', the ukthas; with 'unto good fortunes' [cf. RV 9.62.1], he anointed them when born with good fortune.
Having become Prajāpati himself, he creates creatures, who, knowing thus, sings the udgītha with this opening verse.
And he also anoints them with good fortune itself.
'The swift ones have sped forth' [RV 9.62.4a]: he should make this the opening verse for three sacrificing together.
Through the meter, having [due] form, he makes them share equally.
An equal blessing of the sacrifice comes to them.
'Desiring cattle, the Somas, desiring horses' [cf. RV 9.62.4b]: by this he secures for them cattle and horses.
'Pure, swift, with heroes' [cf. RV 9.62.4c]: the pure is the sacrifice; the hero is offspring; by this he secures for them sacrifice and offspring.
'For you two are lords of heaven' [RV 9.65.17a]: he should make this the opening verse for two sacrificing together.
Through the meter, having [due] form, he makes the two share equally.
An equal blessing of the sacrifice comes to the two.
