Now these Ṛtustomas. The seasons desired: 'May we prosper with equal prosperity through an equal sacrifice, may we obtain food, may we become ever-renewed, ever-renewed.' They saw these sacrifices; they took them; they sacrificed with them. Spring sacrificed first; it sacrificed with this one. It attained this very prosperity, obtained this food, [and] this ever-renewed nature which is that of Spring. Then Winter saw: 'By that with which these prior ones having sacrificed have prospered, by that indeed shall I sacrifice.' It sacrificed with this very one. It attained this very prosperity, obtained this food, [and] this ever-renewed nature which is that of Winter.
