Through the preceding days they harness speech separately. / If they were to arise without having completed it, they would arise with a failure. / Thus they complete it. / Day by day indeed are they bound in the snare of Varuṇa who sacrifice, who sit at a sacrificial session. / In that they go stepping backwards, they go loosening the snares of Varuṇa. / With the stotriya verses they go depositing seed from here; with the corresponding verses (anurūpa) they proceed here; they generate it. / He is propagated with offspring and cattle who knows thus. / With the introductory day the twelve-day rite is harnessed; with the tenth day it is unyoked. / With whichever yoke-halter they yoke a horse or a mule, with that very one they unyoke it again. / Those nine stotriya verses which were before, they are now above. / They cast out the yoke-pins (śamyā). / Therefore just as the draught-animal is yoked, so it is unyoked. / Therefore acquisition and preservation (yogakṣema) succeed, / [when] they divide the triplets of the introductory day.
