saṃvatsaró ráthaḥ parivatsaró rathopasthó virā́ḍ īṣā́gnī́ rathamukhám |
índraḥ savyaṣṭhā́ś candrámāḥ sā́rathiḥ ||23||
The year (saṁvatsará) is the chariot, the complete year (parivatsará) the chariot-lap, virā́j the pole (īṣá), Agni the chariot-mouth, Indra the left-stander, the moon the charioteer.
