"When, as friends, the Brāhmans sacrifice together in the swift impulses of the mind fashioned by the heart, / then, indeed, they leave one [behind] through their acquisitions of knowledge; others wander as Brāhmans of broad comprehension."
"In the swift impulses of the mind fashioned by the heart, when the Brāhmans sacrifice together"—[that is,] the priests of equal renown.
"Then, indeed, they leave one behind through the acquisitions of knowledge"—through the practices to be known.
"*Ohabrahmāṇaḥ*" means those whose sacred lore is reasoning (*ūha*),
or whose sacred lore is comprehension (*ūha*).
This is knowledge beyond simple intellect and sacred tradition;
its further shore must be sought through ascetic practice.
This must not be expounded by one who desires long life;
therefore, the remainders in the meters must be respected.
Now the traditional precept: whichever deity one expounds, one experiences identification with that very deity, one experiences [it].
