والكتاب فمثل زي الجند، ولكن لا يشدون المناطق، وبعضهم يرخى له عذبات [1] أمامهم، مثل عذبات الصوفية، وأما القضاة والعلماء فلبسهم فرجيات (شبيهات بالجندات ودرايع [2] ، وأما عامة الناس فقمص، وفرجيات مقتدرة ودرايع) .

and secretaries, their attire is like that of the soldiers, but they do not tie belts, and some of them let turban-ends hang in front, like the turban-ends of the Sufis. The judges and scholars wear farajiyyas (resembling jubbas, and durrāʿas; and the common people wear shirts, ample farajiyyas and durrāʿas).
