وحدثني الشبلي: أن أهل دهلى أهل ذكاء وفطنة فصحاء في اللسان الفارسي، والهندي، ومنهم من ينظم الشعر بالعربي ويجيد فيه النظم، وكثير ممن يمدح السلطان منهم ممن ليس لهم اسم في ديوانه، فيقبل عليهم ويجيزهم.

Al-Shiblī told me that the people of Delhi are people of intelligence and acumen, eloquent in the Persian and Indian tongues; some of them compose poetry in Arabic and compose it excellently, and many of them who praise the Sultan are among those who have no name in his register, yet he receives them favourably and rewards them.
