ولما اعترى السلطان معز الدين ما ذكرناه من يبس أحد شقيه، خالف عليه نائبه جلال الدين ما ذكرناه من يبس أحد شيه خالف عليه نائبه جلال الدين وخرج إلى ظاهر المدينة فوقف على تل هنالك بجانب قبة تعرف بقبة الجيشاني، فبعث معز الدين الأمراء لقتاله، فكان كل من يبعثه منهم يبايع جلال الدين، ويدخل في جملته، ثم دخل المدينة وحصره في القصر ثلاثة أيام.

Muʿizz al-Dīn sent the amīrs to fight him, but each one he sent swore allegiance to Jalāl al-Dīn and joined his following. Then he entered the city and besieged him in the palace for three days.
