This only shows that Bhava Bhatta was unable to follow the music system expounded by Sharangdeva. There is reason to believe that the suddha thata of Bhava Bhatta was the same as that of Pundarika. It is no doubt extremely difficult to find out what was really the author's own system. I admit, he adds in some places the expression सम्मते to the quotation But the question what was his own system of music still remains.
