² *Prakaṇva.* The name is a corollary to Praskaṇva in *sūtra* VI.1.153 and is stated by the *Kāśikā* to have been a country (*deśa*). It should be identified with the people mentioned by Herodotus as Parikanioi, (modern Ferghāna, Sten Konow, *Kharoshṭhī Ins.*, p. xviii) who are said to have formed part of the empire of Darius. Prakaṇva was thus situated immediately to the north of Kamboja or the Pamir region.
