Kâmyaka-vana—The Kâmyaka-vana of the *Mahâbhârata* was situated on the bank of the Sarasvatî (Vana P., ch. 5; *Vâmana P.*, ch. 34), and is not identical with Kâmyavana in the district of Mathurâ. Kâmyaka-vana was then a romantic wilderness in Kurukshetra (*Vâmana P.*, ch. 34, v. 4), where at Kâmoda, six miles to the south-east of Thanesvar, Draupadî-kâ-bhaṇḍâr is pointed out as the place where Draupadî cooked food for her husbands, the Pâṇḍavas, during their sojourn at that place after Yudhishṭhira lost his kingdom by gambling with the Kurus (*Arch. S. Rep.*, vol. XIV).
