*Maṇimaṅgalam*.—It is a village at the eastern extremity of the Conjeeveram taluk of the Chingleput district, about six miles west of Vaṇḍalur, a station on the Southern Railway. In Sanskrit verses the name of the village is Ratnāgrahāra (*S.I.I.*, Vol. III, pp. 48, 49, 50). In the inscriptions Narasimhapuram (Chingleput) came to be known as Kiḍāraṃgoṇḍa-śolapuram (*Madras Epigraphical Reports*, 244 and 245 of 1910). A battle was fought here by Narasimhavarman, the Pallava king, in which Pulakeśin was defeated (*S.I.I.*, Vol. I, 144, 145; Vol. II, 363).
