⁷⁸⁴ According to the com. नारायण on Śāṅ. gṛ. II. 5. 10-11 (S. B. E. vol. 29 p. 67 *f. n.*) the words ‘अधीहि भो:’ are uttered by the teacher. But this does not seem to be correct. In तै. उ. III. 1 we read ‘भृगुर्वै वारुणिः। वरुणं पितरमुपससार । अधीहि भगवो ब्रह्मेति ।’ and in छान्दोग्य VII. 1. 1 we have ‘अधीहि भगव इति होपससाद सनत्कुमारं नारदः’. The ऋक्प्रातिशाख्य supports the above translation.
