²³¹² The word वृद्ध is employed in all these mantras for attaining prosperity. Vide Tai. Br. III. 2. 5 'वर्षवृद्धमसि। वा ओषधयः। वर्षवृद्धा इषीकाः समृद्धयैव.' Jaimini IV. 1. 26 has a discussion on the placing of husks or the potsherd on which the puroḍāśa is to be baked.
