⁵⁶ शास्त्रोदितो हि नियमो व्रत तच्च तपो मतम् । नियमास्तु विशेषास्तु व्रतस्यैव दमादय ॥ व्रत हि कर्तुस्सन्तापात्तप इत्यभिधीयते । इन्द्रियग्रामनियमनान्नियमश्चाभिधीयते ॥ अग्निपुराण 175 2-3. The first verse is also गरुडपुराण I 128 1.
