Sale of meat from unlicensed slaughter-houses (*parisūnaṁ*) was not permitted. Nor was the flesh of remnants of animals found killed in the forests, with their head and leg lost, nor flesh rotten and smelling foul (*vigandham*), nor the flesh of creatures dead of disease (*svayaṁ mṛitaṁ roga-mṛita-māṁsam*).
