**Superintendent of Pastures** (*Vivītādhyaksha*). In association with the Superintendent of cattle, there was a Superintendent in charge of the pastures (*Vivītādhyaksha*) [II. 34] who made arrangements for their grazing. He was to establish the pastures for cattle in places 'secure from risks from cattle-lifters and snakes to which the low-lying forests are specially exposed.'
