Bhaṭṭa Nārāyaṇa’s Veṇī Saṃhāra which belongs probably to the same century, is an interesting play but the plot which turns on an incident of the Mahābhārata reflects the temper of the epic. It treats of politics in terms of the family and the clan. It will be unsafe to draw from it any conclusions about the seventh century A.D.
