Most of the ring-wells seem to be located inside houses. At Bhir Mound (Marshall, 1951) each house has at least three such wells—one each in the courtyard, bath-room and the kitchen. At BESNAGAR, Brahmanabad (Cousens, 1929, p. 51) and UJJAIN (Garde, 1940, p. 18) ring-wells are generally found inside the house. At RAIRH, NASIK, ŚRĀVASTĪ, TRIPURĪ, AWRA and NEVASA ring-wells are located near the houses. Kitchen wells fitted with rings have been reported in different parts of Dt Bergaum (*ASI-AR 1914-5*, p. 76).
