The function of the four stages of perception is the following acc. to Ṭhāṇ. 363a: *oggaha*, *ihā* and *avāya* occur rapidly (*khippa*) and analogically (*dhuva*) in every new case, *dhāraṇā*, however, permanently (*porāṇa*) and intensively (*duddhara-ga haṇa*). But all four are composed of single perceptions (bahu) or either decompose them (bahuviha), they are undoubtable (asamdidddha), and they do not occur by virtue of conclusion (anissiya). T. 1, 16 renders anukta for asamdigdha, and the distinction concerning the dhāraṇā is missing, but instead also the reverse applies to the six different functions.
