172 Śāntiparvan 219 (ed. Poona). S. Dasgupta (1975: I, 217) adds that another chapter of the Śāntiparvan (318.69–82; ed. Poona) mentions three schools of Sāmkhya, admitting twenty-four, twenty-five and twenty-six tattvas respectively. Compare Śāntiparvan 308 (ed. Poona). See also Bhāgavatapurāṇa 11.22 (J.M. Sanyal's translation II, 444). Chinese sources tell that there were eighteen schools of Sāmkhya (E.H. Johnston, 1974: 2).
