Chapter 5: Mundane Siddhis
and of great strength; / crowned with a blazing garland, terrible, / a wrathful deity holding a sword in his hand. / Having drawn the form of a cloud on the ground, / strike it with the sword mudrā; / the clouds that have arisen from all directions / will be destroyed immediately. / Or else, the undistracted mantrin / should pin them with a kīla (stake): / having become a vajra, the wise one / pins all of them with a vajra stake. / Or again, the pacification / of all vighnas is also explained: / the mantrin stands in the center of the maṇḍala / and should meditate on the secret mantra of Acala, the Greatly Powerful One, / as residing in the maṇḍala / of this utterly terrible secret mantra. / Having made an effigy of it, / press upon its crown with the left foot; / thereupon it will either become pacified / or undoubtedly die. / Having made an effigy of it, / smear it with mustard seed mixed with poison and blood; / when the mantrin dries it, / that harmful spirit will quickly burn. / When it is dried in fire / and smeared with poison, / surely even Brahmā or Śakra / will quickly burn in an instant."
Then Vajrapāṇi addressed the Bhagavān: "Bhagavān, as I understand the meaning spoken by the Bhagavān, I comprehend it thus: Bhagavān, if one resides in the place of one's own maṇḍala, the deities bestow empowerment. If one abides in that itself, one also does not transgress the Tathāgata's command. Why is that? Bhagavān, because abiding in one's own family is the samaya of all secret mantras. Bodhisattvas who practice the bodhisattva conduct by means of secret mantra must also accomplish all purposes by abiding in their own place." Bhagavān said: "Lord of Secrets, it is so; it is just as you have spoken! Lord of Secrets, furthermore, whatever color was spoken
