At that time, the great king took the fourfold army and returned along the road. Reaching the place where he had parted from Prince Sujāti, he thought to himself: 'My son must surely be dead! Now I should collect his bones and return to my own country.' Raising his voice, he wept bitterly, searching along the road. From afar, he saw his son, his body restored and twice as handsome as usual. He ran forward and embraced him, overwhelmed by mixed grief and joy, and said to the prince: 'You are still alive!' At that time, Sujāti recounted all the events above to his parents. His parents were filled with joy; together they mounted a great elephant and returned to their own country. By the power of Sujāti's merit, they conquered and regained their own country, and immediately installed Prince Sujāti as king.
