4.27

「爾時善友即解寶珠，與弟惡友而誡勅言：『汝若疲乏眠臥，我當守護；我若眠臥，汝應守護。』爾時惡友次應守寶珠，其兄眠臥，即起求二乾竹刺，刺兄兩目，奪珠而去。

"Then Kalyāṇamitra untied the treasure pearl, gave it to his younger brother Pāpamitra, and instructed him, saying: 'If you are tired and lie down to sleep, I shall guard it; if I lie down to sleep, you must guard it.' At that time, it was Pāpamitra's turn to guard the treasure pearl. While his elder brother lay asleep, he immediately got up, found two dry bamboo thorns, pierced both of his brother's eyes, snatched the pearl, and departed.
