Third, just as the great ocean has four precious pearls—the first named Accumulation of Treasures, the second named Inexhaustible Treasury, the third named Free from Blazing, and the fourth named Complete Adornment—and these four precious pearls cannot be seen by any ordinary persons, nāgas, or spirits, this sūtra is also like this: all those of the two vehicles and bodhisattvas of the provisional teachings who practice the six pāramitās but have not turned their minds cannot see it. Only sentient beings of great aspiration of the supreme Buddha Vehicle can see this sūtra and give rise to faith and enter it, seeing their own minds as the jewel of great wisdom identical with the Buddha's knowledge and vision. As stated in this 'Chapter on the Manifestation of the Tathāgata': 'How is it that these sentient beings possess the Tathāgata's wisdom, yet in foolishness and confusion do not know or see it? I shall instruct them with the noble path, causing them to forever leave behind false thoughts and attachments, and within their own bodies see the vast wisdom of the Tathāgata, no different from the Buddha.'
