From here below is the third [part], re-analyzing presence and absence. As for "there is a buddha-nature that icchantikas have and those with good roots lack," they have an unwholesome nature, but lack the wholesome nature. The conditioned arising of buddha-nature constitutes the unwholesome aggregates; therefore the unwholesome aggregates are termed buddha-nature, and icchantikas have this. As for "there is a buddha-nature that persons with good roots have and icchantikas lack," those from the first ground upward are called persons with good roots; speaking generally, bodhisattvas from the lineage nature upward are called good persons; they have the wholesome nature and lack the unwholesome nature. As for "there is a buddha-nature that both persons possess," both possess the nature of principle. As for "there is a buddha-nature that neither possesses," neither possesses the nature of fruition.
