九、定對目連。三摩提，此云定也。「凡夫皆有此數」者，荊溪云：如根本定，一切眾生皆曾得之，故云皆有。「若無」下，證心數定。「以眾生」下，舉住心所不能進修，若單心所但名決定。

Ninth, matching concentration with Maudgalyāyana. *Samādhi* is translated here as concentration. "Ordinary people all have this factor": Jingxi says: "As with fundamental concentration, all sentient beings have previously attained it; hence it is said 'all have it.'" From "If there were no" onward, proving the mental factor of concentration. From "Because sentient beings" onward, adducing that resting on mental factors prevents progressive cultivation; if it is merely a mental factor, it is only called determination.
