23.71

「已因便說至謂見緣事別」者，此下大文第二約三道辨人。就中，一明三道建立，二明七種聖人，三明學、無學滿。就明三道建立中，一約現觀位明、二約修無學道。就約現觀位明中，一明十六心，二依位建立。就明十六心中，一正明十六心，二明十六依地，三明忍智次第，四明見、修道別。此即第一正明十六心也。

"Having discussed in passing ... refers to the distinction of seeing, object of cognition, and function": From here below is the second major section, determining persons in relation to the three paths. Within it, first is clarifying the establishment of the three paths; second is clarifying the seven kinds of noble persons; third is clarifying the fulfillment of the learner (śaikṣa) and the non-learner (aśaikṣa). Within clarifying the establishment of the three paths, first is clarifying it in relation to the stage of clear comprehension (abhisamaya); second is in relation to cultivating the path of the non-learner. Within clarifying it in relation to the stage of clear comprehension, first is clarifying the sixteen mental moments; second is establishing them according to stages. Within clarifying the sixteen mental moments, first is properly clarifying the sixteen mental moments; second is clarifying the grounds on which the sixteen rely; third is clarifying the sequence of receptivities and knowledges; fourth is clarifying the distinction between the path of seeing and the path of cultivation. This is the first, properly clarifying the sixteen mental moments.
