"In all vimukti-mārgas ... that is, adding [the knowledge of] another's mind": this explains below the third line. In all vimukti-mārgas of the first five spiritual lineages in the sharpening of faculties at the stage of the śaikṣa, the four dharma-jñānas and four anvaya-jñānas are cultivated in the present according to applicability. The explanation of the reason is as explained before. Those who are not yet free from desire cultivate six in the future, namely the knowledges of the four truths, dharma-jñāna, and anvaya-jñāna. Those who are already free from desire cultivate seven in the future, namely adding [the knowledge of] another's mind. Because it does not sever obstacles, they cultivate [the knowledge of] another's mind in the future. Because liberation from the severing of obstacles is not an unhurried [state], [the knowledge of] another's mind is not cultivated in the present. Question: In the darśana-mārga, the three vimukti-mārgas alongside the three abhisamayas also cultivate the conventional; why does liberation in sharpening the faculties not cultivate it? Answer: There are seven vimukti[-mārgas] in total in the darśana-mārga; although three cultivate the conventional, four cannot cultivate it, and following the majority resemblance, they do not cultivate the conventional. Because they are not entirely similar, the treatise does not say 'resembles seeing.' Another explanation: There are eight vimuktis for the afflictions [abandoned] by seeing in total; three cultivate conventional knowledge, while five cannot cultivate it, and following the majority resemblance, they do not cultivate the conventional. Yet another explanation: The reason liberation does not cultivate conventional knowledge is that it is like the sixteenth vimukti-mārga, for sharpening the faculties by a śaikṣa is like the one vimukti of attaining the first fruit. Although these three explanations differ, all do not cultivate the conventional.
