「宿住神境至皆修八智」者，釋第三句。宿住、神境二解脫道是事觀故，現修俗智。五加行道皆是事觀，現修俗智。為五無間皆是俗智，不可加行有勝無漏。為劣加行，故加行道唯俗現修。他心解脫通有漏無漏，若無漏者，法、類、道、他心智隨應現修；若有漏者，俗、他心智隨應現修。一切五通諸勝進道，即前法、類、道、俗、他心，并苦、集、滅隨應現修。五通勝進既容起他心，准知五通勝進亦容起餘四通。此上三道未來皆修八智，除盡、無生，以未得故。

"In the knowledge of past lives and divine power ... all cultivate eight knowledges": this explains the third line. Because the two vimukti-mārgas of [the supernatural knowledges of] past lives (pūrvenivāsānusmṛti) and divine power (ṛddhividhi) are contemplation of concrete facts, conventional knowledge is cultivated in the present. The five prayoga-mārgas are all contemplation of concrete facts, so conventional knowledge is cultivated in the present. Since the five ānantarya[-mārgas] are all conventional knowledge, the preparations cannot have superior anāsrava [qualities]. Because they are inferior preparations, the prayoga-mārgas cultivate only the conventional in the present. The vimukti of [the knowledge of] another's mind extends to both sāsrava and anāsrava: if it is anāsrava, the dharma-, anvaya-, mārga-, and another's-mind knowledges are cultivated in the present according to applicability; if it is sāsrava, conventional [knowledge] and the knowledge of another's mind are cultivated in the present according to applicability. In all viśeṣa-mārgas of all five supernatural knowledges, the preceding dharma-, anvaya-, mārga-, conventional, and another's-mind [knowledges], together with [those of] suffering, origination, and cessation, are cultivated in the present according to applicability. Since the viśeṣa[-mārga] of the five supernatural knowledges can give rise to [the knowledge of] another's mind, one should understand accordingly that the viśeṣa[-mārga] of the five supernatural knowledges can also give rise to the remaining four supernatural knowledges. In these three paths above, eight knowledges are all cultivated in the future, excluding [the knowledges of] destruction and non-arising, because they have not yet been attained.
