10.46

論「隨名顯故」，四蘊微細難知，隨名顯也。《婆沙》云「色法麁顯，即說名色；非色微隱，由名顯故，說之為名。」

The treatise says: "Because they are manifested in accordance with names." The four skandhas are subtle and difficult to know, and are manifested in accordance with names. The Vibhāṣā states: "Material dharmas are coarse and evident, so they are called rūpa; immaterial dharmas are subtle and concealed, and because they are manifested by means of names, they are called nāma."
