15.25

論「於非所能境如何得律儀」，問也。若於此有情能殺等發願不殺等，可得律儀。他方聖人及上界地所有眾生，於此一切必定不能殺，如何於彼得不殺等？此不殺等不由受心不行殺等。

On the Śāstra's: "How can one obtain discipline with respect to objects that are not within one's capacity?", this is a question. If one makes a vow not to kill, and so on, with respect to those sentient beings one is capable of killing, discipline can be obtained. But regarding the noble ones in other realms and all sentient beings in higher realms and stages, one is definitely incapable of killing any of them; how then can one obtain [the discipline of] non-killing and so forth with respect to them? This non-killing and so forth does not stem from a mind of receiving [precepts] that abstains from killing them.
