論「於等於勝至總名過慢」，此慢過前慢，故名為過慢。《正理論》云「於他殊勝族朋等中，謂己勝、等，名為過慢。」

On the Śāstra's words, "Toward the equal, toward the superior ... is generally called arrogance (atimāna)": This pride exceeds the previous pride, hence it is called arrogance (atimāna). The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "Toward someone whose lineage, companions, and the like are superior, deeming oneself superior or equal is called arrogance."
