11.39

言四、於善友若正依止，於如法義若合若離，隨自在轉等者，基云：謂所依止師說法，若與舊同名合若別名離，或依經論等名合，若別出見經不依等名離，並如法之見也，隨師自在而不傾動。

Regarding 'fourth, if one correctly relies upon a spiritual friend, whether agreeing or disagreeing with the doctrine in accordance with the Dharma, one follows their mastery,' and so forth, Ji says: this means that when the master upon whom one relies expounds the Dharma, if it is the same as the old [teachings] it is called 'agreeing,' and if it is distinct it is called 'disagreeing'; or relying on the sūtras, treatises, and so forth is called 'agreeing,' and if distinct views are presented that do not rely on the sūtras it is called 'disagreeing'—both being views in accordance with the Dharma, one follows the master's mastery without wavering.
