"Improper passage": this has three meanings: first, not the proper path, meaning orifices other than the birth canal; second, improper amount, exceeding the measure of five; third, improper manner, meaning contrary to the standard norm, as well as with any male or non-male. Fascicle 59 states: improper place, improper amount, improper time, and improper manner, with a male or a non-male. Improper place refers to a place where the Buddha, Dharma, or Saṅgha is installed, the bed of parents, an uneven place on the ground, and so forth, such as a saṃghārāma. Improper time refers to illness, pregnancy, nursing a child, and so on, the three lights and six darks, and so forth, as explained extensively in fascicle 59 itself. Sexual misconduct culminating in a course of karma means the consummation of the act of intercourse.
