五種修觀行者等，信菩提涅槃為二，意樂無間殷重修習正智為第三則聞思惠也，奢摩他為第四，毘鉢舍那為第五則修惠也，後三名方便具足。

Regarding the five kinds of practitioners who cultivate contemplation, etc.: faith in bodhi and nirvāṇa constitutes two; an unbroken and earnest aspiration to cultivate right wisdom is the third, which is the wisdom of hearing and thinking; śamatha is the fourth, and vipaśyanā is the fifth, which is the wisdom of cultivation. The latter three are called the endowment with expedients.
