In the 'Numerical Groups of Six', there are sixteen categories in total. Regarding 'relying on six characteristics, expounding the distinctions of eight kinds of sentient-being affairs, etc.', this refers to the six faculties, six objects, six consciousnesses, six contacts, six feelings, six perceptions, six volitions, and six cravings. The distinction of the bases upon which the self relies is the six faculties. The distinction of objective spheres is the six objects. The distinction of self-nature affairs is the six consciousnesses, because one grasps them as the self-nature of the self. The distinction of causes of enjoyment is the six contacts, because they are the causes of feeling. The distinction of enjoyment affairs is the six feelings. The distinction of affairs according to verbal expression is the six perceptions, because they are the causes of speech. The distinction of functional affairs is the group of six volitions. The distinction of affairs of desire is the group of six cravings, which are also the six desires, because their self-nature is desire that wishes for attractive or unattractive things.
