定四相第一相中，云能斷煩惱言語尋伺音樂色想等隨煩惱者，謂初定斷欲界煩惱，第二離尋伺語言，第三離喜，第四斷樂，空處斷色想等隨煩惱。

In the first characteristic of the four characteristics of meditation (dhyāna), regarding "being able to sever afflictions, speech, investigation and reflection, music, notions of form, and such secondary afflictions": the first dhyāna severs the afflictions of the desire realm; the second is free from investigation, reflection, and speech; the third is free from joy; the fourth severs pleasure; and the sphere of space severs notions of form and such secondary afflictions.
