"Non-concomitant verbal designations": names. In order to give rise to conventional speech, just as stated earlier under the wisdom of reflection, speech is generated relying on six things, which belong to the substance of authoritative statements and so forth. They are not the two kinds such as material forms; they are merely conventional designations. The first fascicle of the Prakaraṇārya-vācā says: "It should be known that there are further categories of this kind that are omitted and not established," which refers to non-acquisition and so forth. Among characteristics, those with characteristics and those without characteristics are both different from the first fascicle of the Abhidharma[-samuccaya-vyākhyā]; checking and collating this is easy, so it is not discussed here. As in the fourteenth fascicle of the Prakaraṇārya-vācā, there is an explanation of why only seven skillfulnesses are established.
