同分、彼同分,正取五根,義取六識亦得。然大乘中,第七識與意識亦應分別,如五根。其法界中,心所約一一自實塵,如何名同分?今取共依一根,取一本識塵為同分等言。
Regarding 'homogeneous' (sabhāga) and 'non-homogeneous' (tatsabhāga): properly speaking, they refer to the five faculties, but conceptually they can also refer to the six consciousnesses. However, in the Mahāyāna, the seventh consciousness and the mental consciousness should also be distinguished, just like the five faculties. In the dharma element, if mental factors are considered in terms of each of their own real dusts, how can they be called homogeneous? Now, taking them as jointly relying on one faculty, taking the dust of the single root-consciousness constitutes what is meant by 'homogeneous' and so forth.
