As for there being eight entanglements (paryavasthāna): Fascicle 89 says: All defilements when actively manifested are called entanglements. However, there are eight kinds that frequently manifest actively across the four periods, and are thus specifically established. The Abhidharma-samuccaya says: Lethargy and sleep obstruct calming (śamatha) by inducing sinking; restlessness and regret obstruct raising [the mind] by externally inducing distraction; jealousy and stinginess obstruct equanimity (upekṣā) by frequently stirring the mind at the gates of stinginess and jealousy regarding self-interest and other-interest; lack of shame and lack of conscience obstruct pure moral conduct (śīla) by violating the training rules without embarrassment or shame. It does not establish other factors like anger and concealment. Fascicle 89 says: They obstruct morality, concentration, and wisdom, and give rise to stinginess and jealousy toward gain.
