"Two superior practitioners": first, the practitioner superior in samādhi; second, the practitioner superior in knowledge. The practitioner superior in samādhi has four [factors]: first, correctly understanding the meaning of the Dharma by relying on hearing the sacred discourse on the truths; second, reading and reciting the scriptures with vast voice; third, explaining and expounding the sublime meaning for others; fourth, carefully and truthfully reflecting in a secluded place. These latter three kinds follow the same pattern as the first; hence saying "as in correctly understanding the meaning of the Dharma through hearing, through vast voice, and so forth," one should know this is also the case. "The practitioner superior in knowledge" is reflecting on and eliminating upper-grade desire, which is the fifth.
