In the sixth section, which has one verse, the commentary explains that the association of mind is also like this: it lacks an intrinsically real nature of association and accompanying functioning, yet it is not devoid of designated phenomena. Furthermore, 'associated' means of the same nature; 'unassociated' means of different natures. That which is not of the same nature may be unassociated; that which is not of a different nature may be not unassociated. From this one knows that there is no real nature of accompanying functioning. This explains the first two lines above. 'Moreover, not all minds are either associated or unassociated' explains the lower two lines. Among associations, not all are definitely associated with everything; if at this time it is unassociated, it is also not the case that all are definitely unassociated. This is because in the ultimate truth, there is no real meaning of association or non-association.
