When the treatise says "and so forth", the meaning is to indicate other reasons. The contradictory theses do not exceed these four; hence the treatise states only four contradictions. The contradicting reasons comprise fifteen varieties: those contradicting one are four, namely contradicting each individually; those contradicting two are six, namely contradicting the first and second, the first and third, the first and fourth, the second and third, the second and fourth, and the third and fourth; those contradicting three are four, namely each excluding one; that which contradicts four is one. Thus they make fifteen. The treatise only shows the first and second as two reasons each contradicting one [thesis], and the latter two as two reasons each contradicting two, adducing these three kinds [of examples] to stand for the remaining twelve; therefore it says "and so forth".
