Third is the gate of phenomena containing principle and phenomena without obstruction, which means that because phenomenal entities are not one with principle, a phenomenon can maintain its original single self while being able to broadly contain [others]. For example, the characteristics of a single speck of dust are not vast, yet it can contain and embrace the boundless dharmadhātu. Since dharmas such as world-realms are not separate from the dharmadhātu, they all appear together within a single speck of dust. As with a single speck of dust, so it is with all dharmas. This is because principle and phenomena interfuse and are neither one nor different. In all, there are four propositions: 1. one in one; 2. one in all; 3. all in one; 4. all in all. Each has its reason; contemplate this.
