2.22

觀曰：八、事法即理門，謂緣起事法必無自性，無自性故舉體即真，故說眾生即如，不待滅也。如波動相，舉體即水，故無異相也。

The Contemplation says: Eight, the gate of phenomenal dharmas being identical to principle. This means that phenomenal dharmas of dependent origination are necessarily devoid of svabhāva; because they are devoid of svabhāva, in their entire substance they are identical to the true. Therefore, it is said that sentient beings are identical to Suchness, without waiting to be extinguished. It is like the moving characteristics of waves, which in their entire substance are identical to water; therefore, they have no different characteristics.
