The Contemplation says: Ten, the gate of phenomenal dharmas not being principle. This means that phenomena, which are entirely principle, are constantly not principle, because nature and characteristics are different, and that which relies is not that which is relied upon. Therefore, though their entire essence is completely principle, the phenomenal characteristics are vividly distinct. It is like waves, which are entirely water, constantly not being water, because the meaning of movement is not wetness.
