Namo! We take refuge in and repent before the Buddhas of the ten directions; / We pray that all roots of sin may be extinguished. / Now taking the wholesome [roots] cultivated over long and short times, / We dedicate them to serve as the cause of peace and bliss for ourselves and others. / We pray only that at the time of everyone's death, / Superior conditions and superior realms will all appear before us. / We pray to behold Amitābha, the Lord of Great Compassion, / Avalokiteśvara, Mahāsthāmaprāpta, and the Honoured Ones of the ten directions. / We look up to and contemplate their divine light, receiving their extended hands, / And riding the power of the Buddha's vows, be born in that land. / Having repented, dedicated [merit], and made vows, with utmost sincerity I take refuge in and bow to Amitābha Buddha.
